Leaving VMware is usually planned as a hypervisor swap. That view is too narrow. The migration rebuilds every layer beneath the virtual machines, and most teams rebuild the same fragile recovery around the new stack. The exit is the rare moment to fix how the data center protects and recovers its data, not only which hypervisor runs the workloads.

In three-tier and first-generation HCI, data protection sits outside the platform. Backup is a separate product on separate hardware from a separate vendor, with its own license and its own console. Snapshots tax the array, and disaster recovery means a second site held together by a second toolset. When ransomware hits or a site goes dark, recovery depends on a chain of parts that no single team owns end to end.

Private Cloud Infrastructure takes a different path. It runs compute, storage, networking, and data protection in one code base, so snapshots, replication, immutable copies, and disaster recovery orchestration become platform features rather than products bolted onto it. The same design keeps the data protection tools you already trust, including Veeam, fully in play. Recovery stops being a separate stack you buy, license, and hope holds the day you need it.

This session shows how to plan the VMware exit so resilience improves as you go, where native data protection shortens recovery and shrinks the damage ransomware can do, and how one platform folds backup and DR into daily operations. It includes a live failover and recovery on Private Cloud Infrastructure, so you watch the platform protect a running workload rather than hear it described.

In this session you will experience:

● A live failover and recovery demonstration on Private Cloud Infrastructure, shown on screen

● Why the VMware exit is the moment to rebuild resilience, not just replace the hypervisor

● Where bolt-on backup and DR add cost, hardware, and recovery risk in three-tier and first-generation HCI

● How native snapshots, replication, and immutable copies change recovery time and ransomware exposure

● How VergeOS keeps the data protection tools you already run, including Veeam, in the picture

● How to fold backup and disaster recovery into daily operations instead of a separate stack
